Roer’s Zoofari Easter Eggstravaganza  April 1, 2018  10:00 am  1228 Hunter Mill Road, Vienna, VA 22182  Hop on board the open-air safari bus and take a narrated tour through a free roaming animal safari, at this popular zoo. Feed and learn about animals such as deer, zebra, buffalo, and many more. Tickets include one ride and Easter Egg Hunt. Enjoy feeding bird seed sticks to the parakeets in the free flight aviary or carrots to the giraffe and camel, for an extra charge. Cost: $20.00.  Ages 0-12.  Visit roerszoofari.com for more information.  The White House Easter Egg Roll  April 2, 2018  7:30 am – 7:00 pm  The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue N.W., Washington, DC 20500  Each year, the White House hosts members of the general public to an old-fashioned egg roll on the South Lawn. The day is filled with live entertainment, storytelling, fun activities, and of course the traditional Egg Roll.  Tickets are free, but distributed through an online lottery system. While registering you can select your preferred time slot.  Visit recreation.gov to register for the lottery or whitehouse.gov for more information.  Family Movie Night   April 6, 2018  7:00 pm – 9:00 pm  The Old Firehouse, 1440 Chain Bridge Road, McLean, VA 22101  Gather the whole family and bring your blankets, pillows, and camp chairs for this indoor family movie night featuring Despicable Me 3. Participants will enjoy unlimited, free popcorn with the movie that will be shown on a huge projection screen complete with Dolby 5.1 surround sound.  Cost: $5.00 per person.  Visit mcleancenter.org to register or for more information.     Scouting For Bricks  April 7, 2018  9:00 am – 5:00 pm  The NZone, 14550 Lee Rd, Chantilly, VA 20151  Scouting for Bricks is the most popular family oriented LEGO® fan event in our area.  The expo features amazing displays of LEGO® creations, vendor booths with specialty LEGO® items, photo ops with life-size LEGO® inspired figures, food concessions, and a designated play area with more than 100,000 LEGOS® and DUPLO® bricks to build your own creation.  Proceeds from Scouting For Bricks directly benefit the Boy Scouts of America. Egg hunts will be divided into age groups with plenty of treasures available for each child, a golden goose egg with an extra special prize, and of course the Easter Bunny.  Other activities included with price of admission are giant slide hills, huge jumping pillows, hayrides, animal feeding areas, pedal kart track, and a swinging bridge. Washington, DC 20037  From the National Archives to the Washington Monument, spectators can enjoy the pageantry and excitement of the nation’s premier springtime National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade. Pet an alpaca,  run through an environmental obstacle course,  create environmental crafts, check out the bees, a petting zoo, and much more. Also enjoy the beer and wine garden, and great music on the main stage. Whether you are a novice or a green thumb, this festival has something for everyone.  Visit flowerandgarden.org for more information.   Taste of Vienna  April 28, 2018  11:00 am – 8:00 pm  Vienna Volunteer Fire Department, 400 Center Street South, Vienna, VA 22180  The Vienna Volunteer Fire Department will host the 7th Annual Taste of Vienna. The Taste of Vienna showcases the many excellent restaurants that the Vienna area has to offer.  Sample food from dozens of establishments, and enjoy a full line-up of live entertainment.  Admission is free, but guests may purchase food samples. Children will be allowed to touch their favorite vehicles, get behind the wheel, beep the horn, and meet the people who help to build, protect, and serve our community.   Face painting, trackless train rides, food and other activities will also be part of the day’s fun.  All proceeds go entirely to support the band programs at Rock Ridge High School. The Ride of the Patriots begins with an opening ceremony at 8:00 am. Visit dwcllcsolutions.com for more information.    Arlington National Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony  May 28, 2018  11:00 am  Arlington National Cemetery, 1 Memorial Drive, Arlington, VA 22211  About five thousand visitors attend this major, annual remembrance ceremony in the Memorial Amphitheater every year. The ceremony is sponsored by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington. The ceremony honors all American service members who serve or have served to maintain our freedom. The ceremony is free and open to the public. Visit arlingtoncemetery.mil for more information.   National Memorial Day Parade  May 28, 2018  2:00 pm  Constitution Ave between 7th &17th Street, NW., Washington, D.C. 20037   The National Memorial Day Parade draws thousands of spectators to the National Mall to pay tribute to those who have served, are serving, and most importantly, honoring our fallen heroes. This family friendly event is aimed at calling attention to the true meaning of Memorial Day featuring more than forty military, high school and college bands from states across the U.S., historical re-enactors, veterans organizations, and more than one thousand active duty military personnel. Visit americanveteranscenter.org for more information.    Always confirm information prior to attending an activity in the event details have changed after publication.
