The Botanical Garden is transformed into a winter wonderland for the season. Light displays include a two story animated fountain, a blue flowing stream of lights complete with jumping fish, and the park’s beautiful trees elaborately wrapped in hundreds of lights. Be sure to check the events page before you purchase tickets because some nights include special activities such as holiday crafts, photo nights, and nifty nature night. Timed tickets are required. ICE!® FEATURING RUDOLPH THE REDNOSED REINDEER November 18, 2017-January 1, 2018 Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center 201 Waterfront Street, National Harbor, MD 20745 Enjoy hand-carved, colorful ice sculptures as favorite scenes from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer are bought to life in this walk-through winter wonderland carved from more than two million pounds of ice. Experience two-story ice slides and a stunning, crystal clear ice sculpture of the Nativity scene. Additional activities include a spectacular Christmas tree suspended over an indoor garden atrium, a Christmas shoppe, a carousel, miniature train rides, a gingerbread decorating corner, and, of course, a visit with Santa. SEASON’S GREETINGS AT THE UNITED STATES BOTANIC GARDEN November 23, 2017-January 1, 2018 10:00 am-5:00 pm 100 Maryland Avenue, SW, Washington, DC 20001 See thousands of blooms from orchids to a stunning poinsettia display during the annual holiday show at the United States Botanic Garden. Every year they create a spectacular display of amazing plant based sculptures such as the U.S. Capitol and Washington Monument. ZooLights is a free event that includes live music performances, tasty winter treats, and plenty of opportunities for holiday shopping. More than 500,000 environmentally-friendly LED lights transform the zoo into a winter wonderland complete with a dazzling light show set to music! Every year, one-of-a-kind ornaments representing every U.S. state are created by people across America and displayed on smaller trees surrounding the National Christmas Tree. HOLIDAY BOAT PARADE OF LIGHTS December 2, 2017 5:30 pm Torpedo Factory Art Center 105 North Union Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 Every year, dozens of festively illuminated boats float past spectators on the docks of the Alexandria marina during the Holiday Boat Parade of Lights. The brightly lit boats are creatively decorated as they compete in front a panel of judges. The Torpedo Factory will hold its Holiday Open House offering a variety of festivities such as The Alexandria Choral Society and Braddock Brass Band, fresh baked cookies, and a hot chocolate bar – beginning at 2:00 pm.
